At 3 weeks postnatal we can assess for your abdominal separation and most importantly set you up with a specific home exercise program to address this
Have an external vaginal examination to determine the level of intensity suitable for you to exercise at during this early postnatal phase.
At 6 weeks postnatal we can assess for your abdominal separation and its progression.
With your consent and confidence this is an ideal time to have an internal vaginal examination to determine strength, endurance and coordination of your pelvic floor as well as assess for prolapse.

As Women's Health Physiotherapists, we are well aware of the prevalence of pelvic organ prolapse.
Often the word prolapse can be intimidating and scary. We want you to leave your appointment feeling as though there are options and support available. There are many options and we will create a plan with you and for you!

The type of pessary we fit will depend on the prolapse you have and our findings on assessment.
These are a great conservative option to relieve symptoms such as bulging and/or heaviness.
